Refund Policy
This describes the process for asking for a refund if a paid report or service does not work as described.
Draft status
Draft notice: this page is a plain-language draft pending review by the site owner and legal counsel. It is not yet final legal text and should not be relied on as such.
No amounts or time limits are stated in this draft. The owner must decide them before publication.
Who operates DNS Tools
DNS Tools is a product of Spectra Technologies India Private Limited (the operator) and is hosted on SpectraCloud (spectracloud.com). The operator's registered address, registration number and tax identifiers will be published on this page once the operator has confirmed them; none are stated here until then.
When this policy applies
Remediation reports may be offered without charge for a period, in which case there is nothing to refund. This policy applies only if and when a paid report or service is offered and you have paid for it. The terms of any offer will be shown before you pay.
When a refund is reasonable
We aim to be fair. A refund will normally be considered in situations like these.
- You were charged but the report was never generated or never delivered, and a re-delivery does not resolve it.
- You were charged more than once for the same item.
- The report was materially different from what was described on the page when you bought it.
- A technical fault on our side prevented you from using what you paid for.
- A subscription was charged after a cancellation made within the stated notice period.
When a refund may be declined
We may decline a request where the service worked as described. Findings are produced from public data at a point in time, so a domain that later changes, or a result you simply did not expect, is not by itself a ground for a refund. Requests that show misuse of the service or breach of the terms may also be declined.
How to ask
Contact support using the method on the contact page and include enough detail to find the purchase.
- Send your request from the email address used for the purchase.
- Include the domain, the approximate date and the receipt or order reference.
- Describe what went wrong, and attach anything relevant such as an error message.
- Wait for an acknowledgement; we may ask for further detail.
How requests are handled
Each request is reviewed by a person. We will explain the outcome in writing, including reasons if it is declined. Where we can fix the problem, for example by re-sending a report, we may offer that first and will tell you.
How approved refunds are returned
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through the same payment provider used for the purchase. The time the money takes to appear depends on that provider and your bank, and is outside our control. Partial refunds may apply where only part of a service was affected.
Chargebacks and disputes
If you have a problem, please contact us first, since we can usually resolve it more quickly. Disputes filed with a payment provider are handled under that provider's rules, and we will respond with the records we hold.
Records we keep about a request
To handle a refund fairly and to answer any later dispute, we keep a record of the request, the decision and the reasons. Payment events, where payments exist, are written to an audit log. This record is handled under the privacy policy and is not used for marketing.
If your request is approved, we will confirm it in writing so that you can match it against your payment statement. If you disagree with a decision, reply to the same conversation and ask for a second person to review it; we will do so where we can.
Free reports and promotional periods
During any period when a report is offered without charge, no payment is taken and no refund applies. If a promotional period ends, nothing is switched to paid automatically; a paid offer applies only from the point it is clearly shown to you and you choose to accept it.
Statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under consumer law where you live. The specific periods and conditions are to be confirmed by the site owner and legal counsel.
